Animal Emergency Clinic of the High Desert A Biography
The Animal Emergency Clinic was established in the spring of 1995. It was founded by a group of local veterinarians who had the hopes of providing their patients with all night, weekend and holiday care. It was established as an independent business managed and staffed with veterinarians of its own. Our first location was on Main Street in Hesperia where we remained for about 4 years. Then seeking to own our own facility we purchased and remodeled a small building on Bear Valley Road near 11th Avenue where we remained until early 2008. In order to meet our growing needs and plan for the future our current state of the art facility was designed from the ground up and we begin practice there in early 2008. Dr Steve Edwards, who joined the practice in 1995 and participated in design and construction of the facility, along with his wife Nan took over full ownership in the fall of 2008. “Referral Clinic” is a term often used to describe our veterinary practice as most of our patients are referred to us after hours by their family veterinarians. We strive to foster a pleasant and involved working relationship with our referring veterinarians. We make ourselves available for case consult, providing them with prompt, completed medical records of referred cases via fax and make personal visits a couple times a year to inquire how we might improve on our service. We are available at the onset of a medical need or for case transfer for overnight monitoring. Most often a patient will be transferred back to their family veterinarian for continued care the following morning. Dr Edwards is joined by Dr Navdeep Sandhu, Dr Gene Cannarella and Dr Tya Henderson whom you can learn more about in our “meet the doctors” section. They are dedicated to providing expert, state of the art and compassionate care. Our staff includes four “Registered Veterinary Technicians” and 11 veterinary assistants with years of quality experience. They have training and experience in dealing with challenging cases and enjoy providing comfort to our patients in need. We hope you find our facility and personal care comforting in your time of need.
